How 9dcc used Art Blocks Engine to create and sell 1,200 NFC-enabled one-of-a-kind t-shirts at Miami Art Basel.

Background
9dcc wanted to explore minting generative art and printing “1 of 1 of x” pieces directly onto t-shirts embedded with NFC chips. The project aimed for a launch through an in-real-life (IRL) activation during Miami Art Basel in December 2022, followed by a virtual sales event.
Custom solution
Art Blocks Engine provided a comprehensive solution to meet 9dcc's needs. Key components included:
- Minting App for Live Events: Developed a minting app to support live events, facilitating the sale of generative art to in-person collectors and enabling on-demand production of physical items corresponding to each unique piece.
- Customized Smart Contracts: Deployed smart contracts owned by 9dcc, designed to support IRL minting and integrate NFC chip technology into the NFTs.
- Seamless In-Person Experience: Enabled in-person collectors to purchase, mint to their wallet, and receive their physical item all at the same event location.
Our approach resulted in the sale of over 1,200 editions in just five days, generating over $600,000 in revenue.
ITERATION-02 by 9dcc and Snowfro
ITERATION-02 is a collaboration between 9dcc and Snowfro celebrating generative art creation on-chain and then translates that to a generative garment. The iconic Chromie Squiggle was remixed with 9dcc’s visual identity as a collection of randomly generated NFTs. Each holder received a unique 1 of 1 physical 9dcc tee featuring their newly minted NFT printed directly on the garment.
